Beginners Archery Courses

Archery is a sport for all, regardless of age and physical ability. We run Indoor and Outdoor beginners courses at various times during the year. If you are interested in finding out more, our beginners courses are the best introduction to archery.

Archers who have had basic training in the past and have belonged to another club, are usually able to join without undergoing any further training. Simply complete a Membership Application form and tell us where you have gained your previous experience. We will usually ask to see you shoot to assess your competence.

Our beginners courses normally take place on Saturdays and comprise of three weekly sessions of 3 hours per session - totalling 9 hours of course time . All the equipment you need is provided. You will use the same set of equipment (where necessary) throughout the 3 week course.

We strongly advise you not to purchase archery equipment before you have attended a course. If you do have some equipment, you may bring it along and one of our qualified coaches will be able to advise you on the equipment you have.

The aim of the course is to provide you with an introduction to archery and how to shoot safely.

Topics covered include:

  • Shooting safety
  • Correct shooting technique
  • Introduction to the main types of modern archery
  • Equipment choice
  • Overview of archery in the UK and advice on what you want to get from archery

We aim to have a ratio of coaches to students at about 1:3.

We are currently operating a waiting list for our Beginners courses.  If you are interested, contact us using the message button on this website and we'll provide more details.

We do sometimes run some beginners courses on weekdays (usually mornings) - if these would be convenient for you, do let us know!
